3. Sand-out Imperfections
The key to helping the whole piece flow with the 2 different paint colors, is using a fine grit sandpaper once you are finished and sanding the whole piece down, with special attention to the edges, corners and details. Any parts where your paint line is blurred or uneven – sand over it and it will look great! Sanding the edges helps draw attention to the shape of the piece and the detailed areas.
4. Choose Colors Carefully
Make sure you test the colors on a paper plate or scrap of wood first. Make sure the colors you are considering are compatible next to each other. Sometimes you imagine that two colors will look great together, but once they are touching each other, you see that the shades look a little “off”. You’ll want to test that first, before you have to repaint one of the shades!
