It took me quite a few failed tries to come up with a way to get this chevron pattern transferred from my fabric piece to the top of this dresser.

It took me quite a few failed tries to come up with a way to get this chevron pattern transferred from my fabric piece to the top of this dresser.  I didn’t care so much about the lines being exact since I was going to be distressing and whitewashing the top anyway.

 Here’s the technique I used that worked and was the easiest and fastest:  I started by cutting one of the chevron stripes out with scissors.  Then, by laying down both the top and bottom pieces, I blotted paint in between with a paint brush to outline the stripes.  Once I was finished I painted each stripe a little more with a smaller brush. Then, I sanded the whole thing with a small hand sander (220 grit). Then, I did a thin coat of whitewash
